F.A.Q.s about fixing a car dent or ding without paint.

~F.A.Q.~

What are the benefits of Paintless Dent Removal?

The most important benefit is quality. This method is the closest you can get to the dent never happening in the first place. With PDR, the original manufacturer's finish remains intact. There is no painting involved, no need for body fillers and no need to worry about color-mismatching or risk of overspray on other vehicle areas. Most dents can be repaired onsite at your home or business and in less than one hour. Most importantly, the vehicles' resale value is maintained. Cost is also a major benefit of Paintless Dent Removal.

Can any kind of dent be removed using Paintless Dent Removal?
No. Even though a skilled, well trained PDR Tech can do wonders with dent damage, there comes a point when the metal or paint is too damaged for PRD Repair. I once had a family call me to remove a basketball sized dent from their SUV and it came out beautifully. About six months later, they called me again and said they had an "easy one for me". It was a nickle sized dent caused by a B.B. Gun.  Even though it was much smaller in size than the basketball dent, the point of impact was so stretched that it was unrepairable with Paintless Dent Removal.

What can I expect to pay for Paintless Dent Removal?
It depends on the size and location of the dent and accessibility. The average dent, like one made by a shopping cart, will cost approximately $85-$100 to repair and can be completed in less than one hour. Successive dents on the same vehicle can be performed at a reduced rate. Whatever the damage, PDR consistently costs about 1/3 as much as traditional body shop repairs.

What if there is paint damage?
Occasionally, I encounter a vehicle needing dent repair work but the paint is significantly damaged and thus needs an auto body repair shop. Again, at a certain point metal starts to stretch as opposed to being just "dented".  If the damage is too stretched there is no way to get it back to it's original position.  Often the paint is cracked or missing, in this case, I will refer you to a high quality local auto body shop that can take care of you.

Do you use special magnets or suction machines?
No, the two most common ways to remove dents are by using specialized metal rods.  I take those rods and gently push or massage the dent up to it's original position from behind the damaged area.  Another common dent removal method is called glue pulling.  In the right hands, it can do wonders.  If done by a un-skilled person, more damage can happen to the vehicle leaving you with little options other than expensive auto body work.

Do-it-Yourself Alternatives

There are many products on the market that proclaim to fix annoying dents to your car. Glue pad applications from local auto dealers are the do-it-yourself alternative to getting your car fixed with a professional dent removal specialist. Long story short, they don't work.

The Tools of a Professional Dent Removal Specialist
A professional dent removal specialist uses a collection of precision instruments to get a clean and successful finish. As opposed to some suction devices on the market, dent specialists require a number of different tools to get the right hold on the bodywork and apply the right kind of pressures to the achieve the right results.

Are You Certified?
There is currently no certification for Paintless Dent Repair that really has ANY weight to it. Do insurance companies acknowledge a "Certification"? No. Do dealers, body shops, or individuals know of or use a certified PDR Technician? No. Proline Dents has earned the trust and respect of customers, dealerships, body shops and insurance companies by providing expert Paintless Dent Removal since 1995.

Are You Insured?
Yes.

Lastly, be careful of scammers or "gypsies".  There are people that will chase you down in parking lots telling you that they can remove dents and damage from your vehicle on the spot.

DO NOT ACCEPT WORK FROM ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A PROFESSIONAL LETTERED VEHICLE OR PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS CARDS ON HAND!

These people will leave you poorer, and your vehicle a mess.
